Resume and profile data: Content you create on Compelo — resumes, projects, bullet points, cover letters, and any attachments (documents, audio, video, links) you upload.
Usage data: How you interact with the platform, including pages visited, features used, and performance metrics. This helps us improve the product.
Communications: Messages you send through our contact form or support channels.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve Compelo's core features — resume building, AI tailoring, cover letter generation, and job matching
- Power AI features like Aurea (your digital twin) and skill inference using your resume content
- Generate embeddings for semantic search (RAG) to help the AI understand and reference your experience accurately
- Send transactional emails about your account and, with your consent, product updates
- Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the platform
3. AI and Data Processing
Compelo uses AI models (including OpenAI's GPT-4o) to power features like resume tailoring, cover letter generation, and the Aurea chat assistant. When you use these features:
- Your resume content is sent to AI providers to generate responses
- We do not use your data to train third-party AI models
- AI-generated content belongs to you
- Vector embeddings are stored in our database for search functionality
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Convex (our backend platform) and Cloudflare R2 (for file storage). We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
- Authentication through Clerk with secure session management
- Role-based access controls ensuring you can only access your own data
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure
5. Third Parties
We work with trusted service providers to operate Compelo:
- Clerk — Authentication and user management
- Convex — Backend infrastructure and database
- Cloudflare R2 — File storage
- OpenAI — AI model provider for content generation
- Vercel — Application hosting
